Carson Entertainment Group controls the licensing rights to The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. All of the Tonight Shows recorded between 1962 thru 1992 have been cataloged and carefully preserved and are available for a variety of licensing arrangements.

CEG licenses clips from The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson which have been used in numerous television series and specials. CEG produces a series of home video products that has set the standard for television programming sold in retail and direct response.

Segments from The Tonight Show have been used in feature films such as Fargo, Talk To Me, and Watchmen - as well as in commercials, including the 2008 Macy’s 150th Year Anniversary ad campaign.

We reserve the right to deny a request due to the content
of the footage requested or the context in which it will be used.

When a request has been approved, the requesting party will be contacted to quote the appropriate license fees for the rights requested and to confirm any information necessary. At that time a license agreement will be sent to the appropriate person for counter-execution along with an invoice for the license fees and transfer costs. Fees, FAQ

Screener Fee: A screener will be provided when requested for a fee of $500 per clip. If the clip is eventually licensed, the $500 will be applied toward the license fee.

Transfer Costs: In addition to the license fee there is a $300 charge for providing a broadcast quality tape.

License Fees: Broadcast license fees are determined based on the rights that are requested.

Screener: DVD with visible time code.

Broadcast Quality: Beta SP - unless another format is requested. Please specify the format desired. We can fulfill almost all requests.
